The Boston Fan Back Side Chair is one of the most elegant dining chairs available anywhere. This graceful example of a fan-back side chair incorporated fine vase and urn baluster turnings with a very cultured shield seat which is deeply contoured and bound by a carved gutter. The comb is skillfully shaped with deep carved volutes in the down-turned ears, and a clearly detailed carved crest. The back styles are through-wedged to the seat, and along with the spindles, are pegged to the crest rail for lasting structural integrity.
With its crest of carved ears, this chair makes a nice companion to any of the crested arm chairs or a beautiful complete set. The Boston Fan Back has a shield seat and, unlike most of the seats of that style, a rather rounded robust look to it.
